Getting Ready for Fall
Hello Folks,
So much has been happening that I can barely keep up! I worked for 6 weeks this summer teaching arts to kids at the Mill Street Loft's Dutchess Arts Camps. We made art with a different theme each week. The children were 5- 14. I have done this every summer for the last 6 years, but the children's work never ceases to amaze me. Here are some of thier paper Molas, a project based on Panamanian Indians sewn fabric designs. I modified it into a layer project with paper, card stock and foam pieces.

New Art Play Class (for Adults) in Rosendale, NY
The class will be held at The Canal Town Alley Art Center, 402 Main St. Rosendale, NY. on Wednesday Nights, March 21, 28, April 11, 18, 25 and May 2nd from 6:30-8:30pm. $160. (Includes all materials). Register in advance by calling (845) 338-6503.
What is Art Play? The idea of this class stems from the question “Why should kids be the only ones allowed to play?” Art Play class is an opportunity to come make art in a fun and supportive, "no stress to achieve" environment. Try different types of media (i.e. drawing, watercolor, acrylics, ink, pastels, collage, printmaking and more), explore your creativity and get in touch with your sense of play. All the materials are provided. Appropriate for artists at any level, no previous experience with art is needed. The following is from a recent participant:
“I loved the class. For me, Mira’s combination of firm direction and freedom to go my own way was just absolutely perfect. I learned a lot, enjoyed watching demonstrations and seeing other’s work develop. It was particularly fun watching a classmate come alive and get all excited! I think the best thing I learned is that art class can be fun, rather than intimidating and mind-boggling work.”
